SHS is the workhorse of Gold Coast steelwork. It's a square tube — strong every way you turn it, easy to weld, easy to bolt, and it looks tidy under paint or powder coat. We stock it from light 20×20 hobby sizes right up to heavy 250×250 structural posts.
Around here it ends up in everything: patio posts, carports, pergolas, sheds, gate frames, balustrades and light commercial framing. Builders take it home in their utes, fabricators order pallet lots, owner-builders walk in with a sketch on a beer coaster — all of it's fine with us.

Finishes
How we finish it.
Painted black is what most jobs run on. Hot-dip galv is the go for outdoor and coastal — the salt air down the strip eats unprotected steel. DuraGal is in-line galvanised tube with a clear organic coating, neat finish, paints up nicely.

Common questions on SHS.
- What grade is your SHS?
- All our SHS is C350L0 to AS/NZS 1163. That's the standard structural grade in Australia — 350 MPa minimum yield, suitable for engineered work, weldable, and stamped where required.
- Do you carry galvanised SHS?
- Yes — both DuraGal (in-line galv with a clear coat) in the popular sizes, and we send larger jobs out for hot-dip galv after fabrication. Tell us what the job is and we'll point you at the right finish.
- Can you cut SHS to length?
- Yes. Cut-to-length is a standard service at the yard — send through a cut list and we'll have it ready to pick up or load on the truck.
- What's the smallest SHS you stock?
- 20 × 20 × 1.6 wall. Below that you're into RHS strap or flat bar territory — happy to help work out what suits.
- Do you deliver SHS to the Gold Coast, Tweed Heads and Northern NSW?
- Yes — we deliver SHS across the Gold Coast, Tweed Heads and Northern NSW. The crane truck handles full 7.5m bundles onto site.
- What's the longest SHS you can supply?
- Standard stock length is 7.5m off the rack. Longer mill lengths up to 12m are on special order — tell us the section and we'll quote the lead time.
- Can you fabricate from SHS?
- Yes — drilling, coping, hole-punching and welding from SHS is part of our fabrication service. Send a sketch or drawing and we'll quote the finished part.
- How much does SHS cost on the Gold Coast?
- Price depends on the size, wall thickness, finish and length. Send us a quick list and we'll quote it same day from Burleigh Heads.
