PFC — parallel flange channel — is a C-shaped structural section with flat, parallel flanges (the old tapered-flange channel is long gone in mainstream Aussie supply). It's stiffer than angle, neater than a beam on its side, and the open back makes it easy to bolt or weld onto.
PFC turns up as garage door lintels, edge beams on patios, stair stringers, bearer rails, and as edge framing on slabs and steel decks. Sizes run from a light 75 PFC for shelving and frames right up to 380 PFC for serious commercial spans.

How we finish it.
Standard supply is black hot-rolled, ready to prime or send out for hot-dip galv after fabrication. Galv is well worth it for exposed structural work near the coast.

Common questions on PFC Channel.
- Is PFC the same as old C-channel?
- Same shape, different flange profile. PFC has parallel flanges; the old taper-flange channel had sloped inner faces. PFC is the current Australian standard and what your engineer will spec.
- What's the difference between PFC and a UB?
- PFC is C-shaped (open on one side); a UB is I-shaped (open on two sides). PFCs are great when you need a flat back to bolt to; UBs carry more load for the same weight.
- Can you drill and cope PFC for me?
- Yes — drilling, coping and notching is part of the fabrication service. Send a drawing or a sketch with hole locations.
- What length does PFC come in?
- 9.0m and 12.0m are the standard mill lengths. We cut to your size — useful when the lintel is 4.2m and you don't want to wrestle a 12m bar.
- Do you deliver PFC channel to the Gold Coast, Tweed Heads and Northern NSW?
- Yes — crane truck delivery across the Gold Coast, Tweed Heads and Northern NSW, including direct lift onto pre-built supports.
- What's the longest PFC you can supply?
- 9.0m and 12.0m are the standard mill lengths. We cut to your size on the bandsaw.
- Can you fabricate from PFC channel?
- Yes — drilling, coping, notching and welding from PFC are part of the standard fab shop service. Send a drawing and we'll quote.
- How much does PFC channel cost?
- Price depends on the designation (e.g. 150 PFC vs 300 PFC), length and finish. Send the spec and we'll quote same day.
