Heritage

Over 40 years on the same patch of Burleigh Heads.

Founded in 1986. Same family. Same yard. Same phone number. Here's the short version of how we got here.

  1. 1986

Marshall Steel opens on the Gold Coast

The doors open at Burleigh Heads — a small rack of structural sections, a bandsaw, and a phone that didn't stop ringing. Owner Peter Monaghan sets the tone from day one: stock what local trades actually need, quote it fast, treat people straight.

  2. 1990s

First crane truck on the road

Demand from builders across the Gold Coast pushes us to add our own crane truck — no more borrowed deliveries, no more 'maybe next week' on long beams.

  3. 2000s

    Fabrication shop expanded

We extend the workshop and add more welding bays so we can run cut, weld, prime and gal jobs through under one roof instead of subbing out.

  4. 2010s

Walk-in yard opened up for DIY

We open the yard properly to weekend warriors — point at what you need, take it home in the ute. The off-cut bin earns its reputation.

  5. 2020s

    Northern Rivers delivery expanded

Regular runs south to Tweed, Murwillumbah, Byron and Lismore become a standing service — same crane truck, same crew, just a longer drive.

  6. 2026

40 years on — new website + online steel size reference

Every standard section we stock goes online, with sizes, finishes and a printable spec sheet — so trade and DIY customers can plan a job before they pick up the phone.

Same yard. Same family. Same straight answers.

That's the whole story really — over 40 years of stocking the gear local trades need, quoting it fast, and treating people straight.
